Conjoint Associate Professor Sameer is the Clinical Stream Director for Surgical Specialities (Including Orthopaedics, Neurosurgery, Plastic Surgery and Hand Surgery, ENT and Ophthalmology) for Southwest Sydney LHD. He was previously the Head of Department at Campbelltown Hospital for Orthopaedic Surgery for 12 years and oversaw an expansion of services for the hospital. Sameer was appointed Conjoint Associated Professor at Western Sydney University for his role in teaching medical students.

A/Prof Sameer Viswanathan

A/Prof Sameer Viswanathan is an Orthopaedic Surgeon experienced in Hip and Knee Replacements, ACL reconstructions and Meniscus Surgery.

Sameer completed his university studies at Sydney University followed by JMO and registrar positions in NSW and QLD. Upon finishing Orthopaedic Training and Fellowships in Arthroplasty and Foot and Ankle surgery, Sameer set up practice in the Southwest of Sydney. He consults in Campbelltown, Gledswood Hills, Macquarie University and Liverpool and operates at several Private Hospitals as well as Campbelltown Public Hospital.

Main field of interest

My primary clinical interest is knee and hip replacement surgery. As an Orthopaedic surgeon with career that spans over 25 years, I have performed a wide range of knee, hip, ankle, foot, and trauma surgery.

Knee and hip replacement surgeries are procedures that fundamentally transform my patient’s lives by eradicating chronic joint pain, restoring physical independence, and enable a return to an active, unrestricted lifestyle.

To witness this as a surgeon has been the biggest privilege of my medical career.
